a little update
Wow it has been months sense I have blogged. Life just feels like it has been going non stop. I started the school year back at my old job at Sunrise Preschool. Unfortunately that is no longer where I am working. I loved that school and every single person that worked there. This would have been my 5th year there, so really it feels like a big part of me. Do to some bugdet cuts, though, I was not going to be able to work the full day as a teacher. Anyway, long story short I have a new job with Headstart. I work as a lead teacher at the U of U location. It has been a big adjustment and a LOT of new thing to learn, but I am enjoying the challenge. Well I just thought I would give a little update on my current status. Here are a few things I have to look forward to this month--
1. Home visits with each of my students (this will be a new experience)
2. Watching Matt, his dad and all his brother run the Tough Mudder
3. Volunteering at the Tough Mudder with my beautiful mother and sister-in-laws
4. Thriller!! with Matt and my family
5. Working on finishing the bathroom in our apartment
6. and of course Halloween
Well that is all for now hopefully I will have some more exciting post soon.

my bike and me

Adventure #3
So it has been a very long time sense I have posted anything new. This isn't due to a lack of things to talk about, in fact it may be the opposite. A lot has happened for us in the last couple months. The biggest thing of all was moving to West Jordan. It was so sad to leave our first place. Also I took a girls trip to Spokane Washington and stayed in one the most ornate hotels I have ever stayed in. Plus there has been a lot of projects, I mean a lot! I will be posting on each of these things when I finally find my camera cord which has been missing sense the move :( Never the less, on to my lasted adventure. I have finally been able to ride my bike again!! I ride just about every day, mostly just to the from Macey's grocery store. Today, though, I went on a small adventure and rode along the Jordan River Trail. I started at Gardner Historic Village in West Jordan and turned around somewhere between Taylorsville and south Salt Lake. It was such a fun, nice easy ride. I stopped at a few different parks and read a couple of historical plaques, not a bad way to spent a thursday afternoon. I think I want to take the trail all the way to Woods Cross next time, maybe I'll even talk my husband into coming with me...

withdrawal
I have really been missing my bike....and pretty much all physical exercise. I started my new summer job which is working in an office every evening and Saturday. I am so grateful for the job but its been tough while I am finishing the year in Preschool. A typical day starts at 7:30 and ends somewhere between 10:30 and 11:30, exhausting to say the least. We were also able to get our car all fixed up and back to us, just in time for my busy new life. This means my bike and I never get to hang out. I really miss riding and the weather is so great I am just itching to be outside. Oh well soon enough I will have my mornings free again and my bike and I will start traveling again.
In the mean time i pick up this little gem to satisfy my bike needs...

What kind of muscles do you have?
Talking about big muscles happens a lot when you work with four year old boys. They all want to be and are super heros. Often changing their names to things like spiderman, caption america, or creative combinations all the super heros them know.Today, though, a little boy in my class told me he had gummy bear muscles....haha thats a new one, I told him I thought those were the like of muscles I have too.

My bike and me
Adventure #2 didn't think that one through...
So I had a meeting with the bishop one tuesday night. It was a very busy day for me, work than a technology training for work from five to seven thirty. Then I had to try and get over the our church house by eight. I got a ride home from the training then quickly changed into some church clothes (this is the part I didn't really think over). I climbed on my bike and started riding, it was a little cold outside and I was feeling extra chilly in my dress. When I looked down I realized, to my horror, that I was probably flashing everyone that rode or walked by. I had pictured myself looking so cute riding my beach cruiser all dressed up. Like those flawless models in their spring dresses. Well this wasn't the case I quickly stood up and rode the rest of the way like that. This proved to be quite exhausting, and I felt like quite a mess by the time I got to the church. On my way home it was dark and I decided I just didn't care, I rode home like normal just trying to go as fast as a could. I just told myself people weren't looking. Sense then I have learned the proper skirt to wear when riding a bike.

The Hunger Games
As of late my life has been consumed by The Hunger Games. My husband and I decided we better read it before we saw the movie so we borrowed the books from a friend on thursday, its a week later and I am working on number three now. I am absolutely loving these books. If I'm not reading them I am thinking about them, even in my sleep I have hunger game dreams. If it wasn't for the fact that I have to work and be a little responsible in some way I would definitely be done with the third one already.
So that bring me to my next thought. Who should play Finnick in the movie? Any thoughts? Here are a few guys I like for the part.
Bradley Cooper
He was names sexiest man of the year.
Josh Duhamel
and Ashton Kutcher
Ashton does the goofy full of himself pretty well.
They we will probably use someone less well known but its fun to think of who I image in the part.

my bike and me
So I have decided I need to start writing about my many biking anventures. As many friends might know Matt and I have been car-less for quite some time. Its a pain when we are trying to get somewhere more then twenty minutes away but we have been managing via my bike and the bus.
Adventure number one:
The other day I went grocery shopping. Normally this isn't much of a problem, I limit what I am buying to what can fit in my basket. Sometimes, however, I get distracted in Smiths and go a little over board. During this particular trip I was buying stuff I needed for preschool, mainly eggs! I had been teaching the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty and I wanted to do and activity where they could really drop eggs and see what happened. Could they put it back together again? So I decided to buy a great big thing of eggs, a pack of two and a half dozen. We were also going to be having a waffle party because we had been learning the letter w. So i grapped some frozen waffles with, of course, some whipped cream, butter and syrup. Then I went and got some milk Matt and I were in desperate need of. As a walked up to the counter I was sucked into the sale area where I just had to buy a couple of bags of the quakers rice cake snacks. ( I love them so much) I paid for it all then headed out to my bike....that is when I realized there was no way all of this stuff would fit in my little basket. After a long sigh I got to work trying to figure out how to make it all fit. After a couple of attempts, one broken bag and having my bike fall over twice I came up with a solution. Waffles in the basket (they where kind of heavy), milk and snacks hanging from one handle, waffle toppings on the other, eggs on my seat and I then proceeded to push my bike home. It was quite funny and I felt very embarrassed when I passed over University Ave but I did it.

This is what puts a smile on my face
So this adorable little girl gave me a picture today. It had clearly been written by an older sibling but the note said Mrs. Taylor, you are the best teacher in the hole life world. You are the best, and you are so nice to me.
It came completely with a picture of a princess and butterfly. Totally made my day.

Preschool :)
Here are a few of the things that make preschoolers laugh:
1. When their teacher drops something while she is talking.
2. When we sing the baby on the bus goes whaa whaa whaa (this one gets them going like nothing else.)
3. When big people ride on small tricycles.
4. Calling their teacher silly names like apple or shoe.
5. When their teacher trips over or runs into a little chair.
6. When you make funny voices as you read a story.
Here are a few things they love:
1. Sitting on the shark in the front row on the rug.
2. Being outside.
3. Using their fingers to paint.
4. Cookies for snack time.
5. Playing Candyland.
6. Dressing up.
7. Building with blocks.
8. Acting out stories in front of the class. (especially if it has a wolf)
9. Having a stuffed animal to hold while they read books.
Here are a few reasons I love my job as a preschool teacher:
1. I play and learn everday with four and five year olds!!
2. When my kids come running in from the bus to give me a hug.
3. How many times they say bye teacher, bye teacher as I am putting them back on the bus.
4. When a little girl that has been struggling to talk all year tells me the different colors as we are playing a came together.
5. When a student brings me a picture they made for me at home.
6. I get to image and pretend again.
7 Knowing I play a big role in teaching 35 kids.
8. The days I come home feeling like my work really means something.

Moab!!
So my family decided (sense they have been working every weekend for months now on their new kitchen) that we all really needed to go for a quick get away over the long weekend. We ended up in Moab, which was so much fun and my first time there. We stayed in a really nice little condo just four miles outside of town. Our trip included shopping along main street, an awesome hummer tour, hiking, Arches, movies, searching for hieroglyphics and cave homes, Dead Horse State Park, good food, and a lot of laughs. It ended up being a great and just perfect weekend.
It started snowing bad on our landscape arch hike. We were a little bit unprepared so Matt had to borrow my dads coat and I wore his hat.
The snow was absolutely beautiful.
My dad has a great picture from the hummer ride I'll have to add later.

Sad day
Well I just got my first ever we regret to inform you letter....I applied a little over a month ago to the MSW program at BYU and found out today that I didn't get in. I decided rather last minute to apply so I didn't think it would hurt this bad to get the bad news. :( I didn't apply anywhere else and I am feeling rather heart broken right now. Oh well I guess this was meant to be. I will have to get more creative and find a different way to get to where I want to be.
Bad timing on my part to read the letter during lunch, now I need to hold myself together until the end of the day.

kids say the darndest things
In anticipation of Valentines day today I asked some of my preschoolers during snack how you show someone that you love them. The answers I got were just great. ( you have to picture six adorable kids saying these)
1. Eating her food
2. A kiss
3. By helping, like helping your family.
4. Playing transformers.
5. Riding bikes and giving hugs.
6. Through hard times. You work together. Oh and I am going to glue candy on valentines for my friends. and (he added after everyone had answered I clean up.)
These are some wise kids. So Matt I vow to clean up more, value our hard times, eat your food, help you, ride bikes and play transformers with you, because Honey I LOVE YOU!!!

ROCKY
Yesterday was so fantastic. I love being able to spend the entire day with my husband. And guess what we did....we watched ROCKY, ROCKY II, ROCKY III, ROCKY IV, and the last one Rocky Balboa. It took all day but I have to say it I am a fan. Truly, I love them. I may be late jumping on the bandwagon but I am on.

Second post on my first day. This is going to be addicting.
Over the Christmas break my sister-in-law Karlie and I hosted a baby shower for our sister-in-law Dawn. It was really fun, especially because we had it at an incredible beach house. Thanks Julie!

Karlie and I made all the decorations, we had an owl theme. I think it all turned out really cute.
