The Hunger Games

As of late my life has been consumed by The Hunger Games. My husband and I decided we better read it before we saw the movie so we borrowed the books from a friend on thursday, its a week later and I am working on number three now. I am absolutely loving these books. If I'm not reading them I am thinking about them, even in my sleep I have hunger game dreams. If it wasn't for the fact that I have to work and be a little responsible in some way I would definitely be done with the third one already.

So that bring me to my next thought. Who should play Finnick in the movie? Any thoughts? Here are a few guys I like for the part.

Bradley Cooper
He was names sexiest man of the year.

Josh Duhamel

and Ashton Kutcher
Ashton does the goofy full of himself pretty well.

They we will probably use someone less well known but its fun to think of who I image in the part.

my bike and me

So I have decided I need to start writing about my many biking anventures. As many friends might know Matt and I have been car-less for quite some time. Its a pain when we are trying to get somewhere more then twenty minutes away but we have been managing via my bike and the bus.

Adventure number one:

The other day I went grocery shopping. Normally this isn't much of a problem, I limit what I am buying to what can fit in my basket. Sometimes, however, I get distracted in Smiths and go a little over board. During this particular trip I was buying stuff I needed for preschool, mainly eggs! I had been teaching the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty and I wanted to do and activity where they could really drop eggs and see what happened. Could they put it back together again? So I decided to buy a great big thing of eggs, a pack of two and a half dozen. We were also going to be having a waffle party because we had been learning the letter w. So i grapped some frozen waffles with, of course, some whipped cream, butter and syrup. Then I went and got some milk Matt and I were in desperate need of. As a walked up to the counter I was sucked into the sale area where I just had to buy a couple of bags of the quakers rice cake snacks. ( I love them so much) I paid for it all then headed out to my bike....that is when I realized there was no way all of this stuff would fit in my little basket. After a long sigh I got to work trying to figure out how to make it all fit. After a couple of attempts, one broken bag and having my bike fall over twice I came up with a solution. Waffles in the basket (they where kind of heavy), milk and snacks hanging from one handle, waffle toppings on the other, eggs on my seat and I then proceeded to push my bike home. It was quite funny and I felt very embarrassed when I passed over University Ave but I did it.

This is what puts a smile on my face

So this adorable little girl gave me a picture today. It had clearly been written by an older sibling but the note said Mrs. Taylor, you are the best teacher in the hole life world. You are the best, and you are so nice to me.

It came completely with a picture of a princess and butterfly. Totally made my day.

Preschool :)

Here are a few of the things that make preschoolers laugh:
1. When their teacher drops something while she is talking.
2. When we sing the baby on the bus goes whaa whaa whaa (this one gets them going like nothing else.)
3. When big people ride on small tricycles.
4. Calling their teacher silly names like apple or shoe.
5. When their teacher trips over or runs into a little chair.
6. When you make funny voices as you read a story.

Here are a few things they love:
1. Sitting on the shark in the front row on the rug.
2. Being outside.
3. Using their fingers to paint.
4. Cookies for snack time.
5. Playing Candyland.
6. Dressing up.
7. Building with blocks.
8. Acting out stories in front of the class. (especially if it has a wolf)
9. Having a stuffed animal to hold while they read books.

Here are a few reasons I love my job as a preschool teacher:
1. I play and learn everday with four and five year olds!!
2. When my kids come running in from the bus to give me a hug.
3. How many times they say bye teacher, bye teacher as I am putting them back on the bus.
4. When a little girl that has been struggling to talk all year tells me the different colors as we are playing a came together.
5. When a student brings me a picture they made for me at home.
6. I get to image and pretend again.
7 Knowing I play a big role in teaching 35 kids.
8. The days I come home feeling like my work really means something.
